start a line at an exact position

how do I start a line at an exact position? For example at 1 inch left horizontally from the origin.

You will need to make a private copy in order to edit sketch one. You have to dimension the line with respect to the origin. Is sounds like you need some training in getting started with cad. We have some great online resources for you to get started here: https://www.onshape.com/learn-cad-online5
