I want to split a part so I can 3D print the two halves.

I want to split a part so I can 3D print the two halves. Is this possible, I have tried using the Split tool.

Definitely possible! First, create a plane through the center of your part using the mid plane constraint in the plane feature dialogue box. Next, use the split feature, with the plane as a tool, to split the original part into two separate parts. You can then use the transform tool to move each half or export directly for printing.
