I am using Firefox 36.0.4 with Linux Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with no special settings.

Please upgrade to a more recent version of Firefox - either the latest version of Firefox (50) or the Firefox 45 ESR (Extended Support Release - https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/).
