How do I extrude a rectangle so it tapers to a line?

Hi guys,

I'm trying to extrude a rectangular sketch so that it tapers to a line on a plane I created above it. I tried using extrude and loft but neither of these seem to work. Can someone help me please? I think you have several better options to design that part.
You can extrude up to a vertex but you can't do that up to a line.
You can create a loft between the face of the base and a vertex of that line, but you can't select the line

Instead of that you can create a simple sketch and extrude it (You don't need to create the Plane 1 and the Sketch 3)

Thanks for your response, but I don't understand how you achieved this. Are you able to explain your solution in more detail please?

You can do this directly with a DRAFTed EXTRUDE and two MOVEd FACEs, but I'm not sure it is good technique.

Seems to work OK though. Have a look.
