Sketching in an assembly

I was wondering if there is a way to sketch in an assembly. Where I have to parts mated and I want to just create a sketch and outline the holes so I can then laser cut a mounting piece with the two holes in the proper place. I know I can just calculate where the holes will be based of dimensions but it's kind of a pain.

For this you could use in-context design. Position the pieces in the location you want, then right click on the origin of the assembly to make a new part studio in-context. You can then create a sketch and use the positioned parts as references.
