line angle

Dumb question but in a sketch, seeing as the rotate command isn't here yet, how do I draw a line that is say 45degrees (or whatever degrees) from vertical or constrain the angle or do a properties enquiry (look at the properties of a line to know the angle)?

- If you have two lines, and want to set the angle between them, you can add a dimension.
- If you want a persistent measure of the angle, but want it to possibly change as other dimensions or constraints solve, you can click on that dimension with the right mouse button and set it driven. A driven dimension reports its measured value but doesn't affect it (see image). You can also switch back to a driving dimension at any time.
- If you want a one time report of the angle then select both lines and look at the bottom right of your window: the angle will display there (see image). Note that other types of measurements will also show there depending on your selections.

1. With the line sketched select the dimension tool
2. Select the line you want dimensioned. It will initially assume you are doing a length dimension.
3. Select the line/plane that you want to angle relative to
4. This will let you put down an angle dimension of what the current angle is.
5. Once the dimension is down, it will give you the option to enter a manually defined dimension. If you don't want to change it, simply hit enter.
If you need to change the angle, simply double click on the dimension to edit it.Jake RamsleyDirector of Quality Engineering & Release Manager onshape.com6

This is all related to two arbitrary lines. If you want to measure the angle from the vertical/horizontal you could add a construction line and measure from that.TVP, Onshape R&D
