you can duplicate part studios but not assemblies, is there a reason?

Say, i want to use onshape to design an exhibition and have different pieces of furniture and i want to play around with their layout.
versions are not really an option because new pieces are then not accessible to older versions.

Until there is something like configurations, for "play around with a layout" cases, simply duplicating an assembly would be the most easiest.
Thank you for a quick answer or a tip on how to approach this!

    hey! thank you!
    subassemblies! that will work.
branching: so - if i ad parts to a version, all branches in that version can access them?

Not necessarily... a branch is an independent workspace, so changes made there will not affect the original. However, you can merge a branch back into the original (main) workspace to update it with the changes you've made in the branch. Fair warning - this is an advanced workflow and the merge will bring ALL of the changes from the branch into main.

You could also copy all instances in source assembly, create a new assembly and paste all instances.

yeah, i played around a bit with merging... but in my case, where i want new parts accessible to all "test layouts assamblies" this is not working. but thank you!
