Why won't the drop box open to select type of extrusion?

I have zero experience with CAD, but I'm trying to self-teach myself along with some students. While doing the tutorials, we've encountered an issue with extruding only with sporadic people. When selecting a surface to extrude then going to the drop box to select the type of extrusion, the drop box will not open to allow the selection of symmetry. What has happened/have we done wrong? Again, this is only happening on about 5 out of 20 different individual accounts. Sorry for such a basic question, but old dog here trying to learn new tricks. Any help appreciated.

Hi @jason_skelton,  can you do one of the following

1. attach a screenshot
2. share the model publicly (or an example of it)
3. create a ticket and share model with support

This way we can determine exactly what is happening.
