Hi all.
I got an image (jpg) with a pattern that i want to copy, manipulate and send to laser cutting. Is there a simple way to copy the pattern from the jpg file?

With OS as it stands today you can import the jpg into a sketch, scale it and then use it as a reference to add new sketch geometry on top of and pattern it to whatever number of repetitions you need.  There is not an auto trace function as it were.

If it were a dxf then you'd be good to use it as is.  Perhaps some 3rd party SW could do the trace and convert to dxf?

Inkscape can accept a wide variety of image formats, do automatic tracing (you would probably want to do a bitmap trace), and export .dxf and other formats, including (with a plug in) generate g-code for CNC equipment - Onshape could be then used, but for what you want to do, would not be necessary - that saves time consuming labor intensive manually re-creating the pattern geometry.

Since in Inkscape this is all automatic, Onshape would do well to integrate Inkscape into Onshape as a plug-in feature so if using Onshape, this tedious manual pattern tracing would be automatic instead of manual.
