Basic doc management

... day 2 into CAD and drawing going well but when I save a drawing with the green arrow and then wish to continue I cannot get back into the document. I try to by clicking the sketch button which is the only way I know how to find the drawing toolbar, then I have to start again and then again. I am a student and have the Free Education Onshape offering. Please help and any help much appreciated!

You never save in OS, it does that for you on ever step you do.

When you say "drawing" I think you mean "sketch", and the green check is just you telling OS you're done creating or modifying a sketch. And you should continue to see the sketch until you use it in an operation like extrude, revolve, ..etc.

And I'm not sure what you mean by "..get back into the document."

I think you might not be looking at how the overall flow of how OS works in a correct way.  It took me some time too to get a feel for how OS works opposed to other CAD programs.

You only click the sketch tool to start a new sketch.   Once you start a sketch (or any feature) it will appear in the 'Feature Tree' on the left.  After you confirm a sketch/feature (green check) you may open & edit it as shown in the picture below.  All features you create will behave similarly.

Onshape has excellent tutorial & reference materials.  The place to start is the 'Learning Center' which you can access with the button near top right of OS window.   Then the help documents have in depth explanations, video, and pictures.

Welcome to Onshape! - you will find this forum full of helpful people (including the top-guns from Onshape).
