How to keep holes on flange after flipping.

mattjmattj Member Posts: 7
When I flip a flange to the "opposite side" the holes through the flange don't go with it. Flipping the flange to the opposite side is part of my configuration variable table. Hundreds of configurations some "flipped" others not.

How do I keep the holes on the flange after I flip it?

Thanks!

Can you link to your document? I think this can probably be fixed by changing how you dimension those disappearing holes. My guess is you're dimensioning from the bottom edge. That edge disappears in the second config, so those holes might be grabbing the top edge instead and are located in empty space above that edge. If you dimension off a centerline or midpoint, that issue would go away.

Thanks for the idea there. I placed the point for the hole from the mid-point, but it still went away on the flip. Here is a link to the file. https://cad.onshape.com/documents/42f7a063df6e4bb90b16860a/w/274ece823ea1f62b6b9aea2c/e/fe8004b3395c389ff1663a0b

Here you go. There are other ways to do this, but I got it to work by also configuring the dimension locating the hole pattern.

Thanks for tinkering with it. I really need the holes to dimension off of the edges for all the different variants. Any other ideas there? Ideally joining the holes to the plate somehow.

I'm confused. The holes ARE dimensioned off the edge. That's what the 2in dimension is. I'm flipping that dimension to get the holes in the right direction. You can just dimension to the hole point instead of the midpoint. The solution is still the same.

There, changed it. Same solution, though.
