Extrude to another slightly differently shaped sketch

I'm trying to extrude from one sketch so another that has a slightly different shape. I tried extruding to another face (stern plane) and selecting the plane of the second face but it preserves the shape of the original shape (bow). I assume this is a relatively easy operation but I haven't been able to find the solution by watching videos or looking through the discussion board.

The two shapes I'm trying to join are here. Screenshot below:

This is my failed attempt at the extrusion, it is an extension of the "bow" sketch. I wasn't able to find a way to easily associate the matching points between the two shapes.
