I am drafting a chair. I have mirrored the back leg - but the back slats are level on a leg the curves away - when i try to extrude them they dont extrude level. Thanks in advance.

You can try to extrude from the right plane and sketch the cross section. Run the part long and then use "split" to trim the excess ends and use "delete part" to get rid of them. You can also create a plane normal to the view in the picture and sketch the full profile, but this may be harder to position the piece correctly and if you reference the inner faces in your sketch, the sketch could be fragile. I recommend the first suggestion.5
