dimple - curved surface

I can create a dimple on a flat surface using the "emboss foot" feature created N Cooke. But I need to create a dimple pattern on a curved surface. I have tried creating a plane tangent to the surface, and sketching the vertexes on the surface this way with no luck. Any other thoughts on how to do this?

The interface is similar, but the output is a little different. The dimensions entered are now the external emboss diameter and height instead of the internal (tool) dimensions. I also made the draft angle editable. The error checking is minimal, so the edge behavior is sketchy. Basically, don't try to add an emboss that will go over the surface boundary. Also, you'll need to somehow create a sketch point or vertex on the target surface. In my example I extruded a segmented line as a surface up to the target face. That gave me selectable vertices.
