Making a cut on a a parts studio in-context from an assembly doesn't work

This was a reply I got from Jake and it doesn't seem to work for me. The attached is just test of this method.that didn't work
  1. Set up the whole thing in an assembly
  2. Create a new Part Studio in-context of the assembly (there is a tool in the toolbar, or you can right click on the origin of the assembly)
  3. Use the "Transform" feature to "Copy in place" all of the ghosted parts from the assembly
  4. Do the revolve cut on the copied parts

    Add the parts you want to cut to the merge scope .

    Thanks. I was forgetting to select all the parts. Time to start the real thing now.
