Drag things in part studio

It would be incredibly useful to be able to drag things in a part studio. Is this something that exists at all? Is it something you are considering? Is this something we could implement?

Can you be more specific? What things would you like to drag, and what would you expect the behavior to be?

You can use the transform tool (tumbling dice icon) and manipulate the manipulator.  Location is an essential property of a part in a Part Studio, so it can only be changed by a feature.  In assemblies parts move around to satisfy constraints.

We were interested in something that would allow you to grab a part in a part studio and move it around in space. It's something we all intuitively want to do for designing something larger in part studios.

John - what do you mean by "manipulate the manipulator"?

Try using the "transform by XYZ" option in the transform feature. It provides manipulators on the selected part which allow you to drag it along an axis or a plane. Similarly, rotating a part about an axis allows provides a rotation manipulator.

Keep in mind that the values stored in these transforms are static. They will become nonsensical if there are any rearrangements of parts upstream.
