Need help: Cannot select face for Sketch Plane

: "My sketch plane is stuck in the middle of the part and I can't select the front face and I can't find the tools for selection filter."

Cannot select part face for sketch plane / Hole start issue.

Hi, I'm trying to create 6 holes on a circular face, but Onshape won't let me select the face for my sketch. It keeps defaulting to a plane in the middle of the part. I want the holes to start from the front face at 1.250" deep.

Highlight the selection box in the sketch dialog, then select the face.

Yes. It looks like you had a plane selected (Plane 2) when you started your sketch. Have your face selected first, then start the sketch. Also, don't forget you can use 'P' on your keyboard to turn on/off the visibility of all planes, if they're getting in your way.

P.S. - Also, consider that the face you are working with may only 'look' completely flat/planar. You can't sketch on non-planar faces. The face in your image could be ever-so-slightly conical in your situation, which would make it non-planar.
