I'm new to Onshape. I successfully imported my pdf's, but I'm having trouble importing them into front view, top view and side view.

Do you mean as a visual guide for creating a model? If so, pdf doesn't work. It must be png or two other formats. Here is the help section on it:

I successfully imported my pdf's and Onshape converted them png's. But the "Insert Image" toggle doesn't let me import my png's, it just says "Insert a DXF or DWG file".

There's another button to Insert image:

    image.png

depending on your screen size, it will be in different menu locations. You can use search (Alt+C to search for "insert image") to find it quickly.

This only shows when you are editing a sketch.
