How to create angled plane off a point?

alex_wiebealex_wiebe Member Posts: 4
I have a hexagon shape like a nut, and i want to extrude a shape at an angle off the surface - the angle is measure from a line connecting 2 opposite points - not 2 opposite sides. I cannot figure out what entities to select so that the plane will be created.

Note: if I select an edge and then the surface, the plane get created, but now it's rotated 60 degrees about the face, and I don't want that.

    Alex,

This page goes through all the different types of planes that can be created.  Hopefully reading through the options will help you find the type you need.  https://cad.onshape.com/help/Content/cplane.htm

To me it sounds like you need to use the 'Line angle' plane:

Without a picture or link to your CAD, it's pretty vague what you're trying to do. But it sounds like you have everything you need to make your plane. At the very least you can create a plane from 3 points. If you need to rotate about a line connecting two points, then sketch that line and rotate about it. It's just a matter of creating the proper construction geometry.
