is pattern multiplication using a variable implemented?

Hi!,
I drew a cavity in my model and wanted to have a few of them. other parts are relating to the cavities so the logical notion to me was to put the number of duplication in a variable and use it in all the relevant places.
for some reason this is not working as planned. i get an error. using same variable in measurements is ok.
thanks,
Aviv

Hi, can you post a link to your document? Variables should work for anything other than a sketch pattern...
I believe the most common mistake is declaring the variable after the feature, it must be declare above the first instance of its use.

I need it in a sketch pattern to make the cavities..i seemed to me thought that sketch pattern are the way to make those holes using a variable. is there a way to duplicate the extrusion instead?
I made a sample document. now , when I want to put 3 holes instead of 2 I need to change in 2 places : the variable and the hole sketch pattern multiplication value.

Issue is still not resolved. I need a workaround to do this. any thoughts?0

Hi, as stated earlier you cant use variables in a sketch pattern. (The variable for the length is fine.)
Here is a version of your file that uses a feature pattern to achieve the result you're after.
