how do i copy an assembly i made from one document into a new document?

Cross-document referencing currently isn't possible.
If you would like to insert a dumb/non-mated version, you can translate your assembly to an x_t file and then upload that into the desired document. From here you can translate with the flatten option which puts the assembly, as it is when it was translated, into a part studio which you can insert into any assembly in the document. If you don't need something flexible/movable, you can select everything and choose group which will prevent motion relative to each other part.Jake RamsleyDirector of Quality Engineering & Release Manager onshape.com5
