Problems with creating a hole

Hi,
I have to recreate a corner part of a Rubik's cube. The black cube in the attachment is the part I'm supposed to use as a reference. I created two parts: the cube and the protruding shape, now the only thing I have to do is to create the hole shown in the images. I tried:
- using boolean subtraction
- creating offset planes, and extruding shapes sketched on them
- lofting
- using the split tool and removing the faces
- creating a composite curve and isolating it
The closest I got is when I used the split tool and deleted faces.
What tools can I use to do it?

@wiktoria_filipowicz, one approach is to perform a Boolean Subtract and then Delete Part to get rid of the resulting corner of the cube. Hope this helps.0

I assume the triangle face in the flange pocket is the hole, and the whole cube is hollow.
If that's the case, try this

Unfortunately, it didn't help. It only cut a hole inside the intersection of the two parts, as shown in the attachment.

@wiktoria_filipowicz, is this the result that you are looking for?
This is still Boolean Subtract followed by Delete Part to get rid of the cube's corner. The cutoff corner can be left open or closed depending on whether you shell the cube before or after the boolean operation. This example has versions showing both modeling sequences:I apologize if I am misunderstanding your intent.
