sheet metal: questions regarding corner treatment

in this document, i've tried several SM things:

1) why is it not working to move corner treatment (Ecke 1) behind the following extrusion (Linear austragen 3) ??
2) why is it not working to close Corner 1 and Corner 2 similar to Ecke 1 ??
3) what kind of workaround exists to close corner 1+2 ??

@Ulrich_Hanisch I will admit, Onshape sheet metal is in the beginning stages. It can create some interesting situations. Here is another way I was able to get what you were looking for. I moved the flanges at the end of the model tree and use a closed joint command.

Good Morning @Ulrich_Hanischcan you can also change the corner style on the right. I never used the corner Feature cause I dont know but it never worked like I want it to work...But on the right it is the same feature just in a table. Maybe this helps.

Hello Axel, thank you very much for your answer. Yes, I know this table and in other situations I have changed some options there which sometimes help to get the job done. But in this setting here it doesn't seem to be helpful.For moving the first corner treatment behind the following extrusion I found a "solution": In the Studio2 tab, I changed the sketch plane for the extrusion (which is the top face) so that it is selected in the folded state rather than the flat pattern. After this change, Corner1 also worked behind Extrude1. This is a bit strange, because sheets in Onshape should be "simultaneous" ...But to get the other 2 corners closed .... no chance so far. And that makes me nervous ... why?On another model where I started the SM design with a block and the SM Conversion command, I had several scenarios where I was able to get really tight closed ribs and corners. And in all the scenarios where I started with SM Thicken or SM Extrude and later added flanges etc, I was not able to get tight closed ribs and corners... this reminds me of Solidworks, where it makes a big difference how someone starts an SM design when it comes to getting tight closed ribs and corners later.
I hoped, that in Onshape, the SM design would work more flexible and more robust than in Solidworks

Hi Bryan, thanks for your efforts. Yes, it was clear, that using all edges in one flange feature should work in regard to close all corners ... My personal challenge was to check, if these closed corners would work independent on the way, how the underlying flanges were created before. So my conclusion is, that the possible corner styles are depending on how the flanges are created. It would be great to have all corner styles available for all kinds of flanges

I also changed the settings in the initial sheet metal command to corner relief type to closed and bend relief type to tear.

Hi Dirk, yes, there are several alternatives, how to create closed corners for such a part. In general, it seems, that create all flanges in one shot or start with a sheet metal / convert command are the best strategies. The strategy, which isn't working well, is to create flange by flange separately. There you have almost no chance to get the corners closed.0 -
