How to build a part on top of another, with middle points over each other

VoyagerVoyager Member Posts: 19 EDU
Hey, I would like to extend my part, like on the picture:

The middle point of the two rectangles should be over each other (black line), how can I do this?
Thanks :)

Very simple in Onshape, just take a look at the learning centre.

I agree with Dirk, I think you'd benefit a lot from the learning center.

That being said, I'm guessing you need to just change on option in the extrude for your second part from "Add" (which adds the extrude to the existing part) to "New" (which creates a new part).

    Here's an example.

To EXTEND as it appears in your red line work

You could go back to the feature that made your sketch a 3D part, which was most likely an extrusion, and you could EDIT that extrusion

Or, you can use a tool called MOVE FACE

But you really should do as Dirk and Seth said which is to go through the training courses
