Why does my loft error once I select the guidelines?

I can't seem to loft the shape I designed. Lofting through the ellipse is not a problem, but once I try to select the guidelines I designed it errors. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the solution to this is. Can anyone give me a helping hand? For a visual explanation please check the link below. I would very much appreciate your answers!
