If you need to hide something temporarily, I recommend hovering over it and pressing Shift T to make it temporarily transparent. This works for parts, surfaces, and curves, but not for sketches. Undo… (View Post)1 -

Not quite a solution for your problem, but Alt T opens the tab manager, which can save some time so that you don't have to move your mouse as far (View Post)1
