You can try the first and the second one with the tool "Create selection" Just press the right button and choose "Create selection" You can test the Faces selection of Holes, Pock… (View Post)1 -

You can split the spline in 1 or 2 point and selec the spline. In the bottom right you can see the length of that spline (View Post)2
