If the short piece if meant to be centered on the notch, you just need one fastened mate between the center face of the bottom of the notch and the middle of the short piece. Using multiple planar ma… (View Post)1 -

A really good way to deal with this is to use a mate connector instead of a plane. That way you have full control over the sketch axes (View Post)2
