Re: Efficient way to "re-align" a vector?
@Evan_Reese Yep, that's it! Thank you! It makes perfect sense (now that I know the answer...): I know that cSys.xAxis is the direction I want so I just need to make it the length I need! I think I briefly tried this but gave up when I saw that cSys.xAxis was just (1,0,0) and I thought well that's not helpful... But I think… -
Re: New Custom Features: Mold Design
@NeilCooke Hi Neil. I think the toggle for priority is a better option. At the moment i'm working with a configurable part, loaded into a configurable 'mould' part studio, loaded into a configurable sub assembly loaded into the final mould assembly. From the final mould assembly I configure the six sizes for the sub… -
Re: Suggestions on approach for fully parametric model
OK I got a little carried away. So here is the document;- clicky The premise is the same, we want a crate, we want to see it either assembled or flat, and we want it parametric. Excuse that lack of joints / tabs, this waffle is more concerned with the method rather than the detail. (1) It's drawn with the pieces assembled… -
Re: Multiple Fillets
@guy_4 ,Yes there is a way to put multiple fillets in a sketch that are all equal to each other. You have to select fillet command then click the corner points of sketch (Intersection of two edge) where you want to give fillet. After that you have to put radius value for fillet as per your requirement. then select all… -
Re: STL import, how many triangles are ok ?
I am not sure what the resolution is for the survey scans that you would typically receive and what volume they can capture, but below is a screengrab of a CT Scanned part. The two bosses are roughly 15mm away (D) and 12mm high (H). This would be an example of a small part with high resolution and it seems to be performing… -
Re: Central Part Number Database?
@oleg_shilovitsky In first drafts it's usually just p1, p2 etc.. but I try to rename according to piece at some point like Top, Side LH/RH, Bottom, Drawer front, Door etc.. In my dreams I also rename all the sketches and features for easy editing but unfortunately that happens very rarely when I'm awake =) In erp parts… -
Re: Shell and draft (or a different approach) for internal support for 3D print?
@laird_broadfield: Here's what I usually do. * Create a sketch on the surface that I'm going to have contacting the print bed (in your case, the open side of your box) * Use the "Use" tool and other sketch tools to generate outlines for support structures. Typically, I do this by "Use"-ing all of the outer profile lines of… -
Re: WHERE USED
@caden_armstrong In your experience, has this worked with the workspace id? I thought where used only worked at the version level? I'm sort of confused about the partNumber parameter and why I would supply it if the required parameters already fully define what the part number and revision would be. I have used this.… -
Re: Global Variables?
@sloan_thrasher Its strange this hasn't been solved despite numerous calls and the obvious necessity. https://forum.onshape.com/discussion/comment/60779#Comment_60779 However so far I do it by a featurescript: 1. next to the tabs press plus - 'create feature studio' 2, insert the code below where "thickness" etc. will be… -
Re: copying a pattern from one side of an extrusion to others (skyscraper)
@nadine_phillips To get the windows from one side of the building to the other, you could use a mirror: https://cad.onshape.com/help/Content/mirror.htm You can either use "Face" mode and use the create selection tool to select all the window pockets, or you can use feature mirror selecting whatever features were used to…
