The TransientId for a newly created plane. (Onshape API)
Hi Everybody. I want to create an extrude feature by using Onshape Api. So, there is a great example at Depeloper portal (Feature list API -> Example 3). But there is a way that describes how to create sketch on the pre-defined front plane. What about creating the custom one? As far as I understand, I have to get the… -

Struggling to find correct mate for sliding part
The OS mate concept uses one mate and only one mate between any 2 parts in an assembly. So how do I mate the sensor to the bracket so that it is held in the right orientation whilst being free to slide? I have 2 slots and 2 bolt holes. In SW, I think would select a coincident mate to place the sensor on the face of the… -
Re: Cutting Profiles
The method I chose was to create one piece of the block in a part studio. I then selected the Linear Pattern tool to multiply the piece. (This is assuming your pieces are of equal width. If not they can be aligned piece by piece using Transform by Mate Connector. Probably better to have created a sketch with the piece… -
Re: Swept Profile Boolean Subtract
Separate configured partstudios by type seems the way to go in my opinion. Create a base model of each Type: Drawer, Cabinet Frame, Sink, etc. Configure some length width heights for each (or whatever is relevant). Then derive those into a partstudio with superderive (which can snap your parts into position in the same… -
Re: filled surface to create elliptical cap
Hi all, I am quite new to CAD and OnShape (only a few weeks under my belt), and have been having decent luck with getting some ideas I have drawn out (lots of trial and error). I am currently working on an elliptical cap like the examples by @jakeramsley and @andrew_troup, and have used a copy of the sketch from Andrew's… -
Re: Help finish a box with lid
Hell, looking good to me. Unfortunately you cannot add a boss-extrude (extrude-add) to a sheet-metal part. so the snap on feature will be a challenge. You will need to include the profile of the sheet metal clip in the front (I assume that's what you mean by joggle) in the main sheet metal feature of the lid. Which means… -
Constructing a Part in a Part Studio using DXFs
Hello All, I am trying to build a configurator inside featurescript that will build an aluminium door (from our product line). Some parts, such as the top bars and skins of the door can be created from standard geometry such as the cuboid command, and a host of other commands such as extrude etc. However, other parts are… -
How to import a sketch into a feature script and then in a loop make copies of it along a path.
Hi there, I have a sketch in my document. It has 3 variables set MidThickness Width Height the variables parameterize a cross section profile along a boat hull. I would like to create a feature script feature that imports the sketch and then in a loop makes copies of it. I have imported the profile into a feature like so… -
FEA simulation? for " O-RINGS" "not what I want"
Creating an O-Ring is a very simple task as well Creating O-Ring grooves I used an O-Ring Calculator to verify tolerances and fluid type this calculator is really easy to use http://www.applerubber.com/oring-gland-calculator anyway I just don't believe an o-ring with a material spec of Silicon Rubber against 6061 aluminum…
