Need help patterning holes
Hi Onshape Community, (new to this forum) I was hoping to get some help on a featurescript project of mine. I am part of a FRC team that works constantly with Hole patterned 1X1, 2X1, and that sort of thing for constructing our robots. I am looking to create a featurescript that creates these tubes for us, using inputs of… -
Error when calling opSplitPart, CANNOT_RESOLVE_ENTITIES
Hello all, yet again I have another error, but in a different script this time. I am creating a script that splits a part into laminations, for use when creating counter tops out of many boards for example. I am using a for loop with the variable i to do this. The user selects the face which they want the board length to… -
Creating list of dimensions of rectangular sheet parts
Hi, I'm fabricating parts from rectangular sections of flat sheet. In order to create drawings to cut the required dimensions I'm currently creating the part, making an assembly with each of the parts mated to each other to form a flat sheet, creating a drawing of that sheet, and dimensioning it. Seems like an awful lot of… -
Where is the Measurement tool in Part Studio?
This support post: https://cad.onshape.com/help/Content/measure-ps.htm suggests that all you have to do is select a part in Part Studio and you will see some measurements in the bottom right corner of the browser window UI, with a disclosure control to see a popup with even more info. I'm running OnShape on a small mac… -
Re: svg to sketch implementation
@pager48 SVG does not really have any inherent "size". Any sizes available in an SVG file are measured in pixels, not inches or millimeters. The point of the SVG format is that it is a vector image which can be displayed faithfully at any size, it is not a raster image like a JPG or a PNG. Even with the information about… -
Re: Slot Movement in Assemblies...
Miko - thank you for posting. This is possible (subject to a couple of condition) by using the tangent mate. If the pin is smaller than the slot width, its path of travel will not be along the path center line. The contact needs to be continuous, meaning that the pin cannot exit one slot and then enter another. That said,… -
Re: dealing with similar parts of varying dimensions
but my problem is that i don't have "standard parts". all of the boards, while they have a few standard widths and heights, will all have different lengths. perhaps i need to re-ask my second question, because that's probably the crux, here: once i succeed in creating all my 1 foot board "prototypes", will i be able to… -
Re: Design 'looks' good, but coming out a mess; please help!
I have some miscellaneous thoughts: * Images of the print issues would help, but I agree that it's probably a slicer thing. * Anton is right about some of the thin walls, but it might work as-is. * Something else to consider with thermoforming is the depth/width ratio of your knot patterns. The plastic may struggle to… -
Re: Replicating objects on Onshape
Replicating the knight is certainly possible, but it will be a bit of work. The base is just a simple revolve, the upper part is a little more work. I think I would start by drawing a side profile, then extrude that symmetrically to the width of the upper part of the base. Then create a new sketch to extrude remove from… -
Re: Design Table/Family Table App Interest?
@3dcad the approach would be to setup parameters that then drive the features/dimensions in the part in the Part Studio. The spreadsheet first connects to your part and extracts these and puts them in a spreadsheet format. You can then load in part numbers and the variations on the parameters. For example you could have a…
