Re: Provide gap between two parts
This is a situation that happens on a regular basis. Over time, I have tried different approaches to handle these clerances.
- model them right away
- modify the parts later (offsets and the like)
- create a configurable clerance element
When modeling the clearances right away, it is easy to shoot yourself in the foot, for there might be too little information at that stage of the design, and modifying the clearance later might affect other parts built e.g. on the same geometry.
Modifying parts with standard features does not always cover all aspects of the clearance, might require several features, and is hard to keep track of. Also, it might unnoticedly affect mating of the parts.
I like the latter best. That way, I can model everything with a tight fit and when I'm done, I create a feature that takes care of the specific clearance (maybe even in-context). This could be a "clearance" body and a boolean, for example, or a surface and a thickness-remove. This allows to model with exact fits, keeping the model structure lean, and modify the clearance after the fact, also with regards of clearances to be subject to changes late in the project timeline. Ideally, there would then be a (set of) clearance variable(s).
Re: Whatisit with 3Dfindit?
That's hard to tell from a user's point of view. Maybe the teams of Onshape and 3Dfindit sould have a talk to find out on whose side it is …
Re: How to remove cross lines from drawing?
right-click the view. show/hide. hide auto centermarks.
Re: New FeatureScript: Cosmetic Knurl
Do the cosmetic knurls show up in drawings views?
Re: Flat pattern from Boundary Surface
There is a way using the flatten surfaces tool .

Re: Render Battle #6 - Coffee time ☕(Winner gets a real Prize!)
I"ll make this one my official entry.
Re: Find Volume of Irregular Surface with Openings
Would you be able to share your document or a problematic Mesh file?

Re: hot to change alot of part colors in onshape?
I'm not sure how to drive a feature dropdown (enum) with variables. I'd just use the built in color picker to find the hex value you want then copy/paste.
Re: Move letter from text
Then extrude separately and move the bodies so they overlap, "transform by mate connector" might be a good option to control things precisely.
Wildcard to exclude in advanced search?
I'd like to search my companies enterprise for all feature scripts our users have created but I want to exclude all "Feature Studio 1" or likely empty studios from the search. I can use a wildcard (*) in the search bar and any advanced search field to surround a segment of a string that narrows the search, but I'm looking to do the opposite. I can see this being helpful in other searches as well.
