Re: Improvements to Onshape - January 10th, 2025
Greatest Update this year! Can only be beaten by the Sheet Metal Loft Feature 😁
@bryan_lagrange Maybe they meant "Supper Data"
Interstellar… mmh…
Re: Hole Tool: m8 thread in 6.8mm bore
I see the issue, but this is not the concept of the hole tool: It is by definition a hole tool, not a tap tool. (There are dedicated thread FS out there)
Instead of altering the sketch (thereby creating wrong geometry, which is not desirable), just delete the hole, then use the hole tool to create the threaded hole with the accurate bore diameter in one go. That will also make your design more robust to downsteam changes. (Else, what would your thread feature do after someone changes the hole diameter in the sketch?)
Re: How to remove the inside from a "heart"
Hello Daniel. The heart with a 10mm wall can be created by using the 'Thin' option in the Extrude feature. - Scotty

Re: How to create this specific mate ?
Gotta agree with @martin_kopplow though…
Having the servo axis parallel to the trigger axis would probably work better (not talking about CAD but "real-life"). I would do something along these lines:
Something like this will hold the plunger steady until a sudden tipping point where the trigger will get pushed out (when corner of plunger reaches radius of trigger). The wider slot in the trigger in that area allows the trigger to freely rotate at this point.
The release will be the same regardless of how fast the servo is moving.
Re: [New Featurescript] Tapless 3D printed "threads"
Nice one! I learned a new technique today and you've already made the automation for it. Thanks for sharing!
I also didn't realize that Thomas was back on Onshape after that "NoShape" video a while back, which I'm glad to see!
Re: Laser Joint Updated to V3.0: Pin Face Offset and Pin Chamfer!
This script is amazing, it's saved me a TON of time. Thanks for writing it!
I'm designing a tank to be welded, and unfortunately I can't access the inside to weld it. It would be great if, like the pin end offset, there was also a base end offset. That way you end up with joints where half the material's thickness is always exposed, promoting better weld penetration. It's not a huge deal, just figured I'd ask :)
Re: Slow Performance In Assemblies With a lot of Parts
Your mate solve time is crazy - should be at most a few hundred ms. Follow Eric's advice - create a sketch with a point at the center of each key, insert it into the assembly and fix it, then a single fastened mate per key is all that's needed.
Re: New Featurescript: PP Surface Text 2.0
@ray_s994 Oh good tip! thanks for making me aware there are more fonts, i didnt know.
I'll try to make time to get to this. I have a huge list of changes folks have asked for— i've just not gotten to it.
In my defense if you have what First Robotics/FRC is, its CRAZYNESS until March!
Its taking all my free time.
I'll try to make it happen!
