Re: help, can't create a tube with a 40% open side
Or a plane on that line, and an extrude/remove?
Re: Have I understood the document / part hierarchy correctly?
I personally like to do projects like this by a couple of heuristics.
Shared components (motors, lead screws, sensors) can live in their own documents because they're reusable; just make a version and reference them at that version from your main doc. People often make entire designs in a single Part Studio because that makes referencing things easy, at the cost of simplicity and organization - to avoid this, I make an automatically inserted Variable Studio where I keep project-wide constants. That way, you can drive common dimensions globally without having to overcrowd your Part Studios (it's easier all around to keep feature trees lightweight).

Re: The Elegant Solution to Assembly Machining: "Made From" Flag on Derive
@Philip_Thomas_PTC I'm not sure if a 'made from' flag by itself fully covers all of the potential BOM deduplication cases a user is likely to encounter in drawing their part studios (like frames or sheet metal) but like all things that hit featurescript, once the circuitry for something like that is in place the rogues gallery gets some new tools to commit villainy. Looking forward to seeing what comes of this discussion.
Re: Sketch: Circular pattern a spline
This seems like a bug to me and one that I'm hitting right now. FYI, when using a linear pattern, I can create a selection that includes a spline, but then as soon as I click 'Add to selection', any spline in the selection list is de-selected.
Improvement to Foreshortened Radius
It seems as though one can foreshorten a radial dimension on a drawing just fine as long as the dimension is located on the inside of the radius, but it cannot be foreshortened if placed on the outside of the radius. Drawing style guidance from e.g. BS8888 would often require the dimension to be placed on the outside of the part which might necessitate displaying the radius below the line of the radial arc, and it doesn't mean you want long radius lines trailing off into other views or off the edge of the drawing. Can this be updated so it works with both dimension placement inside or outside the arc? See image for example of the problem where dimension located outside the arc cannot be foreshortened.
