Re: Rounded Accordion Shape
Here's one way. There is a tiny flaw where its not quite tangent at the joints on the bottom… but it should give you one idea to run with.

Re: Using group and sub assemblies
This is not intuitive for subassemblies and is always a confusing issue. I think group should throw a warning when someone selects a sub assembly. Or just prevent the ability to select sub assemblies when creating a group mate.
Re: Fixing a part in an angled hole
"You need to create a plane perpendicular to your extrusion direction then sketch a circle on that to extrude. Try using the point-normal plane creation tool."
That did it. Now it seems so simple. Thank you for the help. This forum is awesome: always several suggestions for solutions regardless of how simple or complex the question is.
Thanks,
Bill Frame
Re: Changing line color of exported DXF
Thanks for posting this Sebastian - solved the exact same problem I ran into today.
Re: Improvements to Onshape - November 22nd, 2024
Fixing the decreasing degree of Bezier is great. Previously we could end up with straight line after several iterations as shown in my comment.
I really like pasting table with initial, simple formatting. Looking forward for additional improvements. 🙂
Profile inspector went a great way from the early stages, it's really cool now and will quickly help find holes and repair sketches.
Re: Improvements to Onshape - November 22nd, 2024
I've been waiting for these features!! The sketch inspector it's such a time saver. And the flatten surface… well, it's like Christmas already!!

I also like the sketch inspector a lot. A good CAD needs handy tools like this.
Exporting STEP file BUG
With the latest update:
When exporting complex geometry to a STEP file, onshape now generates a model with broken topology compared to the previous build. I've tested this with models that I have previously exported successfully in the previous build, now they look terrible.
Re: Wood grain texture Custom Feature
I was attempting to use the feature to show that there will be grain on these portions of the cabinet when viewed from the side for architectural drawings. The grain was not large enough to fit on all of the portions. I tried using the linear pattern and switching the grain up, but it would not come out quite right. I think being able to select how close together the grain is and to be able to pick any size of part, will be useful.

New Custom Feature: Bounding Cylinder
I wanted to make primitive shapes of robot parts to play around with packaging. I found (and wrote) a Bounding Box FS, but there was nothing for Cylinders, and I now understand why. Determining the smallest cylinder that will completely enclose a group of bodies is non-trivial. Hopefully someone else finds this useful.
