Adding a flange to a Sheet Metal Model along a seem
I would like to add a flange on the seam shown. I would like to add a flange to the vertical piece to tuck under the horizontal piece for easier welding a stronger joint. However, it just shows up red when I hit the Flange function in the sheet metal tools and click on that seam.
How can I add a flange?

Re: Can sheet metal create a flanged corner within a sheet?
Something like this:

Re: Blacklist/Whitelist Configurations?
There is a clunky method that can be used, and works for assemblies (thanks @Caden_Armstrong for sharing the FeatureScript to help with parts!)
-Rename your document element from the Tab Manager with some sort of flag language in it (ex: "Shaft Assembly" gets renamed to "Shaft Assembly: Blacklisted")
-Make sure that only the "whitelist" configurations have configured assembly properties applied
-Any configurations that don't have configuration properties default to a configuration name of "Shaft Assembly: Blacklisted" which will appear in the assembly tree as well as any BoM's it's used in.
-This can at least act as a flag to whoever is trying to use the part/assembly to stop and figure out why it says Do Not Use.
Not perfect by any means, and seeing "Blacklisted" in an element name would likely lead me to avoid it, or be confused enough to track down the author to learn more. There would likely need to be a staff training element involved.
Re: How Should I Model the Front of my Hyper Car
First off, I have NEVER worked in autobody design.
And sorry I can’t give a short explanation of how to do what in my opinion, looks to use at least half decent technique for good body design.
My opinion - look on the internet. I think this is certainly a good place TO START.
With time, I was able to get what I think is a pretty good Idea of what type of tools were being used and the basics of how they were being used with regards to exotic and / or elegantly shaped cars, and also design of smoothly shaped objects.
On the internet, you can find (I have) numerous examples of programs that use surfacing tools to model car bodies.
Some tools used may be lofting, patches, Xnurbs, ability to subdivide a curve or single surface, extending edge or edges of curved surface, bridging surfaces and curves, the ability to select type of continuity between surfaces or sheets such as G2 or G3, 3D splines, imprinting, projection of curves, ability to scale curve or surface while setting point item scales from, mirroring, isoparams, ability to split 3D surface with 2D curve, extending and trimming curves, the ability to split curves and insert CV’s, zebra stripes and combs, some highly polished paint type colors that can quickly be applied - FOR EXAMPLE.
Now for purists, am I talking about Class A surfacing? Before I say more about that, look up the different explanationS of how Class A surfacing is defined. But realize that regardless of whether or not you are working with a program capable of Class A, it can still be possible to get some great looking results, and it still can be a great place to start even if not a Class A program.
Realize, surfacing a car is an advanced modeling technique that is not going to be explained in a few paragraphs. You’re going to have to spend some significant time slowing down videos to see what’s going on.
Take what you find in the videos and apply it to Onshape’s toolset.

Re: When can we expect MCAD CoDesigner from Altium to be integrated with Onshape?
The biggest dealbreaker at our company is the lack of Altium integration. I am lobbying for us to transition from Solidworks to Onshape, but there is skepticism since we heavily rely on the ECAD/MCAD collaboration through Altium.
Re: How can I display a grid when I am drawing an sketch?
How do you tolerance a 3D model? Quickly viewable dimensions with manufacturing tolerance is the main reason I still make 2D drawings, even though they take a lot of time. If there's a better way I would like to know!
Re: Routing curve & Control point curve - Introduction of two new features for 3D curve creation
Another update to the feature today…
When Approximating spline edges there is a option to Show deviation. A marker is added to the display as well as an information bubble.
Note: Depending on the curve it may add some regeneration time, so a tip is to turn that option off when you are done, rather than leaving it as part of the feature regeneration. (This is a necessary limitation while we are developing this in pure FeatureScript. It is something we'd be able likely be able revisit when the feature is a native tool)
Re: Is there a way to create a sheet metal cone in onshape?
Conical sheet metal is not currently supported. We are sorry for the inconvenience, I will add you to the request.
