@aeromorrison in release 1.190 the Flatten diagnostic and exporter tool was released. It will allow you to flatten a form likes this. FEA could be conducted from here.
Re: New Video Tutorial: Power User Selection Skills for Onshape
Great video! Thanks @EvanReese.
Being able to store selections (Queries) in variables and then use those variables in standard feature queries would be fantastic for automation.
Re: Increase in general bugginess
To be honest, we've had a few scaling issues recently and there were some additional bumps around the 1.193 deployment on Friday and again yesterday morning (mostly in Europe). We pushed some changes yesterday afternoon that have really helped things.
If you are seeing 30s to open a sketch or several minutes to load something small, please open a support ticket.
As for relations breaking, please open support tickets on that too. That's the only way we will be able to make the service better for everyone.
Re: Virtual Sharps and Arcs
With the latest update, Can you not just set a sketch point coincident with the line and the arc and then dimension to the point as needed? Or did I misread what your are trying to do?

Re: Improvements to Onshape - January 31st, 2025
Parts like the one shown below are extremely common in the aviation world. I work with parts with features such as these every day. It starts from a flat sheet and then all of the tabs are formed over a forming tool/block. This part is difficult to model in Onshape currently. It has formed flanges along a curved edge and Onshape supports neither of these conditions.
The dream solution for a part like this is to allow it to be formed in a user-defined forming tool and then have the inverse of the new Flatten surfaces analysis tool (maybe a formed surface analysis?) provide some basic insights on the relative strain levels after forming.
Re: hey is it possible to get my pipe round and symmetric instead of the shape of a egg?
hey yes. but as you can see, the intersection of a cylinder and a flat face will be an egg if the two are not orhogonal. so, you'll want to angle your original circle for extruding.
Re: Render Battle #6 - Coffee time ☕(Winner gets a real Prize!)
@MichaelPascoe Nice challenge!
I tried my best to render coffee in a glass mug.
For anyone wondering how to improve the rendering of a fluid in a glass, you have to make the fluid bigger so it overlaps a bit with the mug. Adding a radius on the edge of the fluid helps to make it look more realistic.
Re: Improvements to Onshape - January 31st, 2025
I'm very happy that we finally have forming tools, but I do hope that this limitation is addressed soon. Corner gussets would be nice, but even being able to create a bridge lance at the edge of a sheet is pretty common.

Increase in general bugginess
Has anyone else been experiencing an increase in bugginess in Onshape recently? We're dealing with unusual amounts of random glitches, page reloading, etc.
Re: Fewest features to create a hexagonal surface
Offset surface or Fill are probably the best options. If you want to get creative, Loft works too.
