Re: Coral pattern/shape on 3D-Objekts
I thought of a partial hacky solution actually! Since voronoi patterns are very related to the intersection of circles (or spheres for 3D ones) I used Attractor Pattern to cut a bunch of spheres into my main shape, then Project Curve to project those edges back onto my base surface like this. From there I'm not sure the best way to thicken each wire, but the thing that comes to mind is a simple custom feature to sweep a circle on each curve. I don't have time at the moment to draft that, but it could be quite simple. Hopefully this gets you started.
Re: New Custom Feature: Publish Geometry
Thanks so much, @joshtargo! I'm definitely on board for this kind of workflow and I'll try it out.
@S1mon re: "favorites" folder. I agree this was something I used to use. These days I'll often add an odd character to my "favorites" and use the search bar. It can be handy by way of having multiple separate lists if you care. For example use "." for some things and "~" for some things.
Exclude Parts from Drwaing(s)?
Do we have a way of excluding certain parts from Drawings? I just happen to have parts I need, but not on drawings. I could make another assembly with/without these, but if parts could be excluded from drawings just like from BOMs, that would pretty much awesome.
Re: thin extrude on part edges
Yeah I do this somewhat frequently too. I'll click a face and extrude that (works fine) and then realize it should just be a wall of constant width instead but you can't select faces or edges and use thin extrude. Making a sketch and using "use" is never as robust

Re: thin extrude on part edges
I accidentally tried to do this today not realizing it wasn't possible. LOL

Re: Part number embossed on part?
Yes, that is exactly the use case here. The shop needs some means of identifying different versions of the same part, or the sequence of several similar parts for assembly. And I don't want to change/create the name stamps manually, to save time, of course, but mainly because I might just forget to do so at times.
So, as things are, it appears I'll have to do it manually for the foreseeable future.
Would there be a widespread interest in this kind of tool? If so, please vote up below. Thanks.
Re: How do you create a sphere?
This thread was started in 2016 but I'm here to chime in with a 2025 answer, I use this featurescript collection of primitives for the times it's relevant in my workflows. I haven't yet developed any featurescripts referencing it but I imagine there are cases where each of these object primitives might be quicker to solve particular problems without having to get into doing the multi step process to make a sphere or cone.
