thin extrude on part edges

requesting the ability to use a then extrude on the edge of a part, as simulated above with an intermediate sketch

Oh my, yes. I don't see why there is more use cases for thin extruding a face (which would then produce two solids) over thin extruding an edge, so definitely my vote for this as well!
@s1mon is there a way to see whether this has already been submitted and to vote for it?
It would be hard to say that it's never been posted, as the search tools are only so good, but I did this search and didn't find anything that seemed to cover it.

I accidentally tried to do this today not realizing it wasn't possible. LOL
I usually end up using this custom Extrude feature:
It did thin extrudes way before the native feature could. It also allows for extrusion of non planar faces, edges and curves.
Quite useful, i find myself using it often.
Yeah I do this somewhat frequently too. I'll click a face and extrude that (works fine) and then realize it should just be a wall of constant width instead but you can't select faces or edges and use thin extrude. Making a sketch and using "use" is never as robust
