Re: Intersect plane with mesh?
Relevant to this conversation though. I've recently been playing with curves and meshes together for workflows like this, and found that Project Curve and Intersection Curve are both coded to prevent selecting meshes, but that the functions inside them can actually handle them! I assume that the Onshape devs will cringe at all of the unconsidered issues this might cause, but I did create a version of each of them here that you can use. I strongly recommend using the "Approximate" functionality to clean them up. Otherwise the curves it makes are still seen as mesh geometry and things like Loft will be mad about it.
Re: Renaissance - Big update and a new tool
Thanks for the explaination.
I also hope that Onshape will release a mirror function soon.

Re: CAM Studio - open pockets on edge of workpiece
Cam Studio does not accept sketches, but it will take a curve; you could try that.
Feature request: Configuration panels and tables
We need the ability to rename configuration columns, and also be able to re-order those columns at any time.
I've seen a number of people asking for these improvements but haven't been able to find an improvement request.
You can see the below tables only reference to the type of feature/dimension it references to. Being able to add a title would be very helpful.
Column titles should be unique within the table, but be able to be duplicated across tables.
Being able to shift the columns left and right at any time is also essential, along with being able to shift the rows up and down.
Re: Difficulties using guides with the loft
Looks doable. Please make the document public so others can make a copy.
Re: Struggling to turn a curvy 3D-scan mesh into a worthy surface
Good morning MDesign. I played with the profile splines but not the guides. Hopefully would have found and improved those as well but needed some sleep. The distortions on an old cowl are not a surprise, From the time frame these Citabria Cowls were made the original plug was probably hand shaped with the inaccuracies that involves. Over time they will also distort some due the wear and tare and stressing as well as patches under the paint. The idea is to get your development faired as best you can. Some hand blended fillers around the edges and across surfaces during install.
For a few years I did this kind of work as a side line. One customer had molds that had been stored so badly that I couldn't work with them and had to rebuild or simply build new. I was surprised at how much distortion could creep into fiber glass parts and molds over time. Had some time this morning. Replaced guide curves after editing profile curves and opened up tolerances. Doesn't look too bad. Only 1 or 2 spots I'd like to smooth a little more but need to get on with other stuff.

Re: Partial circle centreline

If you modeled your part with a hole feature and circular patterned that - we do provide circular centermark patterns as a part of view creation. You can edit the automatic circular centermark patterns and unselect the same elements as I did in the manual tool, and then adjust the arc centermark extension in the same way as above.
Re: Improvements to Onshape - January 31st, 2025
Hey I just got a new project and I could really use the sheet metal loft feature 😅
Please hurry, I don't want to use traditional CAD 😑
