Re: Introducing - The Onshape Desktop Client
The key is to really lower your standards.
Re: Distorted, exaggerate perspective view is a deal breaker!
Another Industrial Designer here. I have also noticed the perspective not being ideal for all product sizes, but sure not to the extend that would justify Rhino … ;0)
I have had complaints only when showing stuff on a real wide aspect monitor. The distortion comes most prominent at the outer left and right edges on these, when the zoom is about adequate for the center. That is why I have a large, but more traditional aspect ratio display. It's okay there.
In Render Studio, the angle of view can be adjusted, so for renderings, it is not much of an issue.
Re: Video tutorial: Working with 3D scans
@MichaelPascoe This exact limitation is what keeps me tied to Rhino or Fusion 360 for reverse engineering meshes. I just need the Onshape kernel to expose mesh triangles to us to be able to do face grouping automatically by angle tolerance or size and then I'd have auto replacement of face groups with cylinders, planes, or constrained surfaces.
Re: Introducing - The Onshape Desktop Client
You know I'm really excited about this new desktop release, but I was really hoping for a cloud version of the same product with zero interoperability, missing half of the features, and a pay-by-module pricing structure with all of the tools spread between confusing classifications of user roles. Any word on when we can expect OnshapExperience?
Re: Introducing - The Onshape Desktop Client
Huh, nice job, Caden! We didn't think it was possible to build a CAD system that you install on your desktop…

Re: Measurement and Dimensioning Different
Please share a link to your document with copy access and we'll check it out.
Like MD mentioned, it's not measuring from the same spots. If it were a square this would probably be different. Place a mid point on the arc's and then measure from those.
Re: Is there a way to Lock the Z-axis of the part, when using the mouse to rotate the view of the part?
Hi, is there a way to do this on the iPad?
Re: Introducing - The Onshape Desktop Client
@harmanpa We're working on a new type of floating license called a "lottery license" where every hour of the day the seat is randomly assigned to a user in the company. This will force all employees to equally contribute to the work load, and prevents anyone from hogging it for too long.
Re: Introducing - The Onshape Desktop Client
Could it include floating licence support please, so that I can spend an hour walking round the office looking for who has a seat checked-out but isn't using it?

Re: Introducing - The Onshape Desktop Client
@michael_stalls There is no help documentation included. The help docs are only available in physical media or through in person training sessions in a hotel conference room.
@STEG - Sorry, its only available on laser disk.
