Re: Boolean subtraction not working due to geometry
I checked your model, the root issue is the height of the 0 number is not high enough. Do a move face on it to make it taller, then the union will work.
That said, I'm not sure what you are trying to do. The model is super super super complicated. dxf imports of text that is very jagged. Transforms all over the place. Extruding the same surfaces over and over. I'd start over completely and do it the way I did, using the built in text tool. There is no need for the transforms or the other stuff you have in your model.

Re: Browser based = dumb idea.
That's called SolidWorksfst said:Browser based apps aren't bad per se. I am personally skeptical about rental models where you and your data are at mercy of potentially changing pricing and profitability-dependent long term availability. Selling a standalone version or a simple-to-install variant of the server for a fixed perpetual fee with optional, paid upgrades would make the application attractive to people who don't want to or cannot buy into the current annual service subscription scheme! The server based variant would still have a maintenance advantage over local installations. One server to maintain, thin clients for the actual CAD users, still full local control over the data, having certainty to be able to provide the service as long as needed. That would sound pretty optimal in my book!

Suppress a feature if config variable is equal to 1..
Hi,
I've set up a configured part studio for a Generic Furniture Unit. Shelf spacing and number are controlled with my #ShelfQty config variable.
If my #ShelfQty is equal to 1, I'd like to suppress my Array feature (which fails with just 1 shelf in this set-up)
https://cad.onshape.com/documents/17a0cbeb16f67cb4426f970b/w/2b1760473795123af0eb627c/e/d9edaaa09c39d4fd9699c56b?configuration=Depth=0.59+meter;Height=0.8+meter;ShelfQty=1.0;Single_Shelf=false;VFC_Thickness=0.018000000000000002+meter;Width=0.59+meter
Grateful for any tips.

Re: SHEET METAL BEND - CANNOT UNROLL A SIMPLE BEND
I found the problem. It had to do with coming off of SolidWorks and expecting a flat pattern to show up in the main model. That's why I expected the Arcs to Extrude as bends to do something. I didn't realize that the flat pattern shows up in a bend table which is off to the right side of the screen instead of being considered a bend feature.
I worked through the examples you gave and see now how the different choices work. Thanks for the effort.

Try dragging the transform tool to the centre of the circle........I tried that but then the point of rotation is not the centerpoint
Re: Mates are bad and driving me insane. (it's a bit of a rant)
If you share your document, I,m sure someone wil show you the solution for your trouble.
Looking at your profile your just started with Onshape, give it some time and please be nice on this forum

Re: Configuration variables vs configurations?
Agreed about the missing things in Onshape, and about the pain of Solidworks configs. I spent more time maintaining Solidworks configs than I did using them. Using configs with inserted models (equivalent of derived) was very flaky.eric_pesty said:
My biggest complaints with configurations in Onshape are the fact that you can't make two configurations of something appear as a single item (in BOMs of for releases), and the fact you can't prevent "incompatible" combinations of inputs. Other than that it quite flexible and really easy to use (and maintain, which was always a huge pain in SolidWorks where you spend half your time having to double check and fix broken configurations...)

Re: Simple Rubber Duck
IMHO, surfacing a rubber duck is a nontrivial task even for the not-faint-of-heart. You can certainly do it, but the process won't be representative of mainstream CAD work. It's very understandable that those coming from direct editing tools (Blender, ZBrush, Max, etc.) would want to use CAD similarly, but the toolset is geared toward different applications.
How about, say, a toaster, or a case for wireless headphones? A (very unpolished) example: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/a2c5203d67ecd824f9fdc8e2/w/bc4ab4a0417b5f2c158b0ce9/e/d6e644fb7b384ddcab09327f
