Opening Inventor Part Files

I am having trouble viewing *.ipt files. According to the help information, Inventor files should be supported. When I open the file however, I see the normal CAD window but without anything in it (i.e. just the origin marker is present). Is there something I need to do in order to view these files?

I was importing the file in the documents page and opening it from there. The part was saved into a part file from an assembly and should be made of solid parts in Inventor. The support ticket has been submitted. Thank you for your reply.
