imported assemblies not constrained

Parts in assemblies that I've imported from McMaster Carr and others my boss has created are not mated to one another once I get them into an assembly document. The components "pull apart" as I move them about to mate them to other components in the assembly. What am I missing?

They will need to be grouped or mated as required. The mating method is different for different types of CAD so there is no universal assembly file type for a supplier to export as, for us to then import...Solids, no problem. Mostly.Cheers,Owen S.Business Systems and Configuration Controller
