imported assemblies not constrained

Parts in assemblies that I've imported from McMaster Carr and others my boss has created are not mated to one another once I get them into an assembly document. The components  "pull apart" as I move them about to mate them to other components in the assembly. What am I missing?

    Owen - I think they were perturbed by the fact that you even have a 'Precious Princess' mode - I know i am! ;)
