Extrude at an angle?

Hi, sorry if this is a stupid question, this is my first attempt at 3D models. I have a triangle, I want to take a slice from the hypotenuse edge from 0mm to the right angle corner at 1mm depth. I can extrude from either of the faces but this doesn't give me what I want. I hope you can understand.

Does that help?Senior Director, Technical Services, EMEAI8
