Is it possible to change the reference for a drawing view?

I have a document containing just drawings with views of parts referencing versions of other documents.
I want to copy the workspace of the document containing the parts and assemblies (to clean it up and remove all the branching detail that was generated in the pre production prototype stage of development) but I obviously don't want to loose all the work that has gone into creating the drawings.
Is there a way I can do this?
