How do I place derived parts on sketches/sheetmetal in part studio?

Forgive me, new user here! I have used the derived function to place a part in part studio but am struggling to move the part around and place it on a sketch so I can trace and extrude around it for the sheetmetal part. Should I be using transform or adding more planes??

Hello and welcome! You can either use Transform with Mate Connectors (the best option) or just sketch around the part where it appears (there is no "right way up" when modeling).
