BEAMS - Profiles and configurations

Greetings, New to Onshape and working a lot with weldments/BEAMS.
Is there a way to use configurations where the variable for a beam width or height is set according to the width or height of the beam profile?
At present, I set the variables for the width or height of a beam in configurations but if I change the profile of the beam (in configurations) I have to then adjust the variable to match.
The variables are used to position parts on the beam.
I appreciate any comments suggestions.

Beams uses tables to drive the profile sizes. You can configure the table selection, but you cannot drive it with variables. You could probably use the measure distance feature to measure the profile size then use the variables from that?
