Importing parts into a part studio

I have two part studios in a single document.
I'd like to use the parts from one part studio in the other (for Boolean operations, like embossing).
Is there a way to do this short of creating a new assembly, inserting all the parts from the two part studios into the new assembly, then editing that assembly in the context of one of the parts?
