best way to remove little nubs? (pictures included)

The highlighted section is what I want to remove. Is there any best way to do this? Is there any tricks I don't know about where this can be done quickly?
Here is 3 more views of that same nub I'd like to remove, however now its not highlighted.
This section is big enough that it will get picked up by my slicer (Simplify3d) and I don't want it to do weird things when it prints this section. Any Ideas for quickly removing it? I tried splitting the part with a few of the faces leading up to that nub but it said it didn't split it, I think b/c the surfaces near it are all curved?

You could try delete face on all those faces. "Heal" or "Cap" may have nice behavior here. If it doesn't product what you want, you could instead use "Leave open" of delete face, and then close it up with Fill.
